Freda Griffith Cheney

Freda Elizabeth (Miller) Griffith, Cheney, is 100 years old today.

Born Dec. 9, 1895, in Lake Creek, Idaho, she has been an area resident for 47 years.

She married Charles B. Griffith in 1915 and was a full-time homemaker. He died in 1984.

They had six children: Margaret Woodard, Bryson City, N.C.; Helen Schmidt, Grants Pass, Ore.; Ruth Hanrahan, Cheney; Erma Crews, Fall City, Wash.; Dan Griffith, Opportunity; and the late Marie Griffith, who died Nov. 16.

Mrs. Griffith has 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She enjoys gardening, cooking, cleaning and signing hymns, as she is still very active in her church and religious beliefs.

She credits her longevity to a strong work ethic and helping out whenever she can.
