Farm Worker Who Lost Leg, Arms In Critical Condition
A southern Idaho farm worker who lost both arms and a leg to a post-hole digger accident remained in critical condition Sunday morning.
Hospital officials said Javier Tellez Juarez, 23, also remained unstable.
Juarez was working at Tracy Farms near Malta, Idaho, on Wednesday when the accident occurred. Deputies said Juarez and Martin Juarez Vargas were digging a post hole while Harold Lee Tracy was driving the tractor to which the digger was attached .
Juarez and Vargas placed their weight on the digger to help push it into the ground. Tracy looked away for a moment, and when he looked back he saw Juarez’s shirt was hung up in the shaft, the report said.
Juarez’s arms were torn from his body at the shoulder and both his legs were crushed.
Attempts to reattach one of his arms failed. Doctors also had to amputate one of his legs.
