Teenager Killed In Auto Accident

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Colville teenager died Sunday in a car accident near Kettle Falls.

Erin Hoops, 16, was on her way home from a concert when the accident occurred, at U.S. Highway 395 and Highway 25.

The driver, Joel Eby, 19, was the only one of four teenagers in the car who was wearing a seat belt, according to the Washington State Patrol. He was not seriously injured.

Two other passengers, Sara Eby, 13, and Ryan Kimball, 15, were listed in serious condition at Deaconess Medical Center with head and back injuries.

Troopers said Joel Eby was driving an older-model Honda southbound on Highway 25 when he failed to stop at an intersection. Wally Beck, 21, was eastbound on Highway 395 and hit the Honda on the passenger side, authorities said.

Beck, of Coeur d’Alene, was wearing his seat belt and wasn’t seriously injured, troopers said. , DataTimes
