Substandard Bolts Draw Hefty Fine

Compiled From Wire Services

A federal judge has ordered a California company to pay more than $3.1 million for selling substandard bolts to The Boeing Co.

Air Industries Corp. and its vice president for sales, Daniel Arredondo, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Seattle in a case that was brought as a result of a whistleblower’s complaint.

Air Industries, based in the Los Angeles suburb of Dana Point, was ordered Friday to pay $540,888 in restitution, as well as fines and legal costs.

Arredondo was sentenced to six months’ home confinement and 150 hours of community service and was ordered to pay a $2,500 fine.
