U-Hi Gymnasts Top Ferris
The gap wasn’t as great on Wednesday, but University defeated Ferris in Greater Spokane League gymnastics for the second time in less than a week.
Kim Meyers won three events and the all-around with a season-high 36.2 points as the Titans (9-0) held off Ferris (7-2) in a four-way meet at North Central.
U-Hi scored a season-best with 167.6, as did the Saxons with their 163.7. The Titans topped Ferris 165.7-159.6 last Thursday.
Meyers won the uneven bars (8.9), balance beam (8.9) and floor exercise with a stellar 9.5. Liz Miller of Ferris, the No. 2 all-around at 35.0, took the vault with an 8.9.
Kalie Cossette (34.65) of U-Hi was third in the all-around, followed by Lindsay Linerud of Central Valley (5-4).
CV scored 157.4 to the 140.4 of the host Indians (3-6).
In the night’s other four-way, Mead (7-2) tied Ferris for second place by taking the top five all-around positions and scoring 157.9 at Lewis and Clark.
The Panthers’ Kelly Herron (32.9) edged Heather Salo (32.2) for the all-around title. Herron won the bars, beam and floor and was third to Salo and LC’s Jennifer Pereria in the vault.
Rogers (141.55) easily beat Shadle Park (126.9) and the host Tigers (126.55). Rogers is 3-6; SP and LC are 1-8.
The league takes a break until Jan. 4.
