Man Robs South Hill Station; Flees In Waiting Car With Cash

From Staff And Wire Reports

A man robbed a South Hill service station Friday night.

The clerk at Svoboda’s Exxon Station at 2706 E. 29th told police he was working in the garage about 8:30 p.m. when a man came into the cashier’s office.

When the clerk appeared behind the cash register, the man demanded money.

The clerk thought the man was kidding at first, but noticed something in his pocket. Thinking it was a weapon, the clerk handed the money over when the robber yelled.

The robber then ran south from the service station on Mt. Vernon to a car parked on 31st Avenue. Another person was waiting in the car and the two sped away.

Police described the robber as in his mid-20s, about 5-foot-10, average build with long brown hair and a mustache. He was wearing a dark blue, two-piece nylon sweat suit with a hood.
