Chewelah Holds Off Cardinals

Greg Belzer had 14 rebounds and made two free throws in the final minute Tuesday to offset a furious comeback try as Chewelah (10-3, 12-4) defeated visiting Medical Lake 57-52 to maintain its first-place hold in the Northeast A.

Medical Lake (8-5, 11-5) cut a 20-point Chewelah lead to two late in the fourth quarter. Jeremy Landram scored 20, and Jeremy Rodgers came off the bench to score eight first-half points for Chewelah.

Springdale had a 10-minute, 26-12 run from right before halftime until the end of the third quarter. Ben Peterson had 14 rebounds and Heath Melville 11 for the Chargers, who made 13 of 17 fourthquarter free throws.
