Sugar Bowl Finds Sponsor

Compiled From Wire Services

The Sugar Bowl got a new sponsor - Nokia, the Finnish company that touts itself as the world’s second largest manufacturer of cellular phones.

Nokia signed a three-year agreement and replaces USF&G Insurance, the Sugar Bowl’s sponsor for the last nine years.

Details of the arrangement were not announced, but the agreement includes an option for Nokia to extend the sponsorship through 2001.

USF&G said three years ago it wanted to withdraw when a new sponsor could be found. One year remained on the USF&G contract.
