Amonte’s Goal In Overtime Sends Chicago Past Flames

Associated Press

Chicago’s Tony Amonte worked himself free in the slot and beat Trevor Kidd for the overtime winner Friday night as the Blackhawks beat the host Calgary Flames, 4-3.

Chicago had sent the game to overtime with just 1:15 left in the third period when Chris Chelios, alone in the slot, scored between the legs of former Spokane Chief Kidd.

The tying goal came just after Theoren Fleury had put Calgary ahead 3-2 by beating Jeff Hackett on a breakaway at 17:31 of the third.

Chicago’s Joe Murphy had his sixgame goal scoring streak snapped.
