Saints Get More Of Mora
Thu., Feb. 9, 1995
New Orleans Saints coach Jim Mora, whose contract was to expire at the end of the 1995 season, told reporters that he has received a one-year extension.
Mora, 59, has the longest tenure with the same team of any active coach in the NFC.
The Saints have achieved their greatest success under Mora, attaining their first winning seasons and four trips to the playoffs since he took over in 1986.
But fans have been increasingly critical because of the team’s failure to win a playoff game. Criticism has grown the last two years as the team had records of 8-8 and 7-9.
“It shows the confidence that (owner) Tom Benson has in what we’re doing,” Mora said.
