WSU Finds New Spirit, Trips Osu

A team meeting on Saturday morning lifted the spirits of Washington State’s women’s basketball team, a team still clinging to NCAA tournament hopes.

Sunday, the Cougars showed that renewed spirit while defeating No. 16 Oregon State 84-79 in Bohler Gym.

Amy Saneholtz scored 20 points to lead the Cougars (5-8 Pac-10, 12-10).

All five starters scored in double figures for WSU, as Kireen Ellis totaled 15 points, guards Kelli Kronberger and Julie Wight each added 14 and forward Jenni Ruff scored 13.

“This is the best game we’ve played this year without a doubt,” said Washington State coach Harold Rhodes. “You cannot put a premium on how big this win is for us.”

Anette Mollerstrom led the Beavers (8-4, 16-5) with 25 points.
