Poor Air Quality Forces Burning Ban In Thurston County

A limited burn ban was declared Monday in Thurston County because of poor air quality.

Indoor and outdoor burning was prohibited except in certified wood stoves and pellet stoves, or if there was no adequate alternative source of heat for an uncertified stove or fireplace.

Spokesman John Kelly of the Olympic Air Pollution Control Authority said the ban will be reevaluated today to see if it can be lifted.
