Associated Press

Two women were killed in a New Year’s Day boating accident off Netarts Bay, while the four other people aboard survived.

The dead were identified as Rio Stalheim, 39, of Oregon City and Jamie Eshwiler, 19, address unknown, the U.S. Coast Guard said Monday.

The six were aboard a 16-foot open boat that capsized in seas so rough, their clothing was torn off by the waves, Lt. Bob Gaudet said. The accident occurred about 4 p.m.

The survivors were identified as Stalheim’s husband, Rick Stalheim, 40; and two sons, Lee Stalheim, 17, and Gabe Stalheim, 13; and Tim Tredo, 14.
