Adoption Offers Pour In For Throw-Away Baby

More than 100 people have offered to adopt or help a newborn girl whose skull was fractured when she was tossed from a second-floor bathroom window.

However, they have no chance of getting the girl because there is already a long list of people who want to adopt babies.

Toys, clothing and money have been pouring in to Loyola University Medical Center since the girl was injured Wednesday. She was in critical condition Saturday.

The mother, Marisol Melendez, 18, threw the baby, police said, apparently trying to hide her pregnancy and baby from her parents.

She was being held on a charge of felony aggravated battery of a child.
