It Was Fun, But It’s Getting To Be A Drag

Loose talk

Courteney Cox (“Friends”), on her Southern upbringing: “I wouldn’t know how to make swordfish with steamed vegetables and mango chutney. If, however, you want some garlic mashed potatoes, anything with some fat in it …”

John Leguizamo, star of the new Fox comedy sketch show “House of Buggin’,” is talking about hanging up his high heels.

“I’m tired of it,” the 29-year-old, Colombianborn comedian told Entertainment Weekly. “I have corns and bunions on my little virgin feet.”

Leguizamo has donned dresses during his one-man, off-Broadway shows and appears in pantyhose for the upcoming cross-dressing comedy “To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar,” with Patrick Swayze and Wesley Snipes.

And how does action hero Snipes, of “Demolition Man” fame, handle the transformation into something slinkier?

“He’s a funny-looking woman,” Leguizamo said. “He’s the kind of woman you have after thousands of beers.”

Ladies love cool … jewelry? Jokes? Jalopies?

L.L. Cool J turns 26 today.

That pawn shop scene almost did it for us

A Manhattan movie house is reporting at least two seizures a week during screenings of Quentin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction,” according to Rolling Stone magazine. When informed, Tarantino’s publicist “seemed thrilled with the news.”

Oh, they’re just jealous about ‘Little Buddha’

Twin 22-year-old directors Allen and Albert Hughes (“Menace II Society”) aren’t exactly enamored of the Hollywood star scene. “This is Sharon Stone acting,” Allen told Entertainment Weekly, parting his legs. “Tim Allen, is he gonna be the white Cosby? Are we gonna see a movie every year from this fool? Keanu Reeves is gettin’ $7 million (offers) - have you seen the guy act?”

We hear he even took private lessons in Idaho

Stephen Russell, Reeves’ co-star in a new Canadian production of “Hamlet,” is impressed with what he’s seen so far. “The first thing I noticed about Keanu is how much work he’d already done in preparing for Hamlet,” he said.

Not to mention one who has arms and legs

Sherilyn Fenn, who will play Elizabeth Taylor in an unauthorized NBC miniseries that Taylor tried to block in court, isn’t taking the role lightly. “It’s one thing to play a character that’s fictitious,” she said. “It’s another thing to play one who’s alive and well and fighting it.”

You know the media: monkey see, monkey do

Michael Jackson, busy battling rumors about a videotape showing him having sex with a 13-year-old boy, says his lawsuit against “Hard Copy” is just the beginning. Declared Jackson: “I will no longer stand by and watch reckless members of the media try to destroy my reputation.”
