Miller’s Pin Leads Colville Over Knights

Sometimes good things actually do come to those who wait.

After sitting out the last two Frontier League wrestling seasons and undergoing multiple knee operations, Ben Miller (168 pounds) of Colville pinned East Valley’s Kaleb Trinkle to clinch a 32-30 upset of the 10th-ranked Knights (4-1) Thursday in Colville.

Miller, wrestling in just his sixth match of the year, helped the Indians (3-2) knock off the league champions and finish third. Colville was the Frontier League Champion in 1994.

Ryan VanQuekelberg (141) and Brandon La Londe (158) scored the Indians’ other pins.

At Cheney, the Blackhawks (2-2-1) recorded six straight match wins to defeat Pullman (1-4) 41-28.

Gabe Schaefer (115), John Williams (122), Jacinto Shamp (129) and Kris Cameron (178) had pins for Cheney.

At Clarkston, West Valley (3-1-1) won nine of 13 matches to beat the Bantams (1-4) 41-16.

Jarod Richardson’s (148) takedown with 4 seconds remaining gave him a 9-7 win and highlighted West Valley’s victory.
