Sixteen-Year-Old Dies After Head-On Crash

A 16-year-old girl died following a head-on collision Monday afternoon near Colville, Wash.

Leslie Garner of Colville died about 6 p.m. at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, the Washington State Patrol said.

The accident occurred at 2:28 p.m. six miles north of Colville, the state patrol said.

Garner was heading south on Williams Lake Road when her 1990 Subaru station wagon crossed the center line into the northbound lane and struck a 1991 Ford pickup driven by John W. Maxwell, 64, of Colville.

She was flown from the crash site to Sacred Heart.

Maxwell was flown to Deaconess Medical Center, where he was in critical condition late Monday.

The condition of his 4-year-old passenger, Logan Maxwell, was unavailable.

Other passengers in Maxwell’s car, Ricky Milling, 46, and Eric Milling, 13, did not suffer serious injuries. Mike Milling, 14, remained in guarded condition late Monday at Mount Carmel Hospital in Colville. The Millings are from Richland.

Clover Taylor, 26, of Colville, a passenger in Garner’s car, also escaped serious injury.

None of the people in either car was wearing seat belts, the state patrol said.
