Now’s The Time To Tell Everyone All About Your Good Neighbor

Do you know of a special someone in your neighborhood who is always there for everyone? Here’s your chance to give them the recognition they deserve.

The Spokesman-Review and Little Ceasar’s Pizza are sponsoring the sixth-annual Good Neighbor contest. It’s our way of saying thanks to the special people who make your neighborhood a great place to live. And, it’s your chance to give the Good Samaritan on your block a much-needed pat on the back.

What makes a good neighbor? The person we’re looking for is the one who always lends a hand, even without being asked. Whether it’s sharing their garden harvest or picking up a vacationing family’s mail, a good neighbor is the person everyone knows they can count on.

When nominating your neighbor, be sure to include specific examples how your neighbor has helped you and others. And remember, the best gestures are the ones that require time and love, not material or financial gifts.

Winners will be announced August 3. The good neighbor will receive an engraved plaque and a catered party for their entire block.

“It was probably the best thing that ever happened to me,” said Brenda Hawkins, last year’s North Side winner. “It was fantastic. They treated me like a queen. It was a lot of fun, and I’ll never forget it. It makes you feel so proud to win, but then you get to give back to your block by inviting them over for the party.

“It’s a neat thing when you get all your neighbors to come over,” Hawkins said. “It says a lot about your neighborhood.”
