Home Free Cda Family Wins House In Nic’s ‘Really Big Raffle’

Terry Bressler turned $100 into $200,000 Friday.

The Coeur d’Alene resident won the North Idaho College Foundation’s “Really Big Raffle.”

Bressler is the new owner of a home valued at $200,000 built by NIC carpentry students in the Loch Haven subdivision at 8488 N. Tartan, Hayden Lake.

“When we came home, the cameramen were here,” Bressler said. “We thought we’d done something wrong.”

He quickly learned from a television crew that he and his wife, Ina, had done something right by purchasing the raffle ticket.

“That’s not too bad for $100,” Bressler said.

The Bresslers, who have two young children, have lived in their Coeur d’Alene home on Government Way ever since they were married 18 years ago.

Bressler, an accountant at CXT Inc., said his family had been considering buying a new home.

His current home was getting too small for entertaining guests.

He and his wife saw the house they eventually won two weeks ago when they purchased their raffle ticket.

They thought they were just getting a floor-plan idea for the home they were thinking of building. Instead, “I think the Lord has answered our prayer,” he said.

The foundation sold 4,000 raffle tickets at a cost of $100 each. Friday night, the drawing for the winning tickets was held.

The second-place winner, David Thorp of Coeur d’Alene, won a car or boat worth $20,000.

The third-place winner, Robert Ketchum of Coeur d’Alene, won a travel package worth $3,500.

The foundation began selling tickets last December. The Really Big Raffle is a North Idaho College Foundation fund-raising project.
