Leadership Spokane 1995 Graduates Announced

Helen Biggs, James Bingham, Fred Buckles, Lisa Carl, Mel Carter, Donna Conboy, Tim Cosgrove, Sally Duffy, Joe Fenton, Brett Flanagan, Mary Gaddy, Ben Haberman, Louise Hansen, Brooks Hogg, Glynis Hull, Craig Jones, Mary Ann Jurgensen, Liuba Vashchenko-Luton, Julie Meyer, Karen Meyer, Scott Moore, Carla Percival, Kim Plese, Steve Prince, Marie Raschko, Kathleen Reynolds, John Richardson, Clarice Robertson, Julie Shiflett, Larry Stuckart, Brusan Wells, Kevin West, Joel White, and Deborah Wittwer.

Erin Montgomery has passed the national examination for magnetic resonance imaging conducted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. She is employed by Radiology Associates of Spokane at Holy Family Hospital.

Scott Jones and Ronda Stalnaker, of Legacy Studio in Spokane, recently met with internationally acclaimed portraitists Ken Whitmire and Stephen Wolfe at a weeklong retreat discussing new ideas in taking portraits.

The Spokane Guilds’ School recently recognized volunteers at its annual appreciation night at The Spokane Club.

Receiving awards were: Gary VanAssen, Outstanding Person of the Year; Jeff and Lonna Gately, Outstanding Parents of the Year; James F. O’Connell & Assoc., Corporate Award; Don Kaufman, general manager of Big Brothers and Sisters, Community Service Award; and John Tiffany, Good Neighbor Award.

Special recognition went to: Charlie Berryhill, Betsy Carosella, Stuart Lee, Dave Michaud, Barbara Pryde, Linda Reber, and Mary Sherwood.

Foundation Northwest recently awarded $350,000 at the culmination of the second of two annual grant cycles to the following agencies:

The YWCA Transition School, for after-school kids’ program and parent education; the Children’s Home Society of Washington, to support its family outreach services in the West Central and Northeast neighborhoods; and the Retired Senior Volunteers Program, for a tutoring program in Lewiston that matches seniors with school children.

Grant County Health Department, for preventive dental care to low income children; Family-A-Fair, to underwrite passes for low income families to the annual event; the Northwest Coalition Against Malicious Harassment, for regional workshops; Habitat for Humanity of Spokane, to help hire a development officer.

The Starbuck School District of Columbia County, to provide community access to school computers; Dayton Public Schools, for Meadowood Speech Camp; Dayton Children’s Home Society, for the Tot Spot program. Forty-four college scholarships totaling more than $65,000, were also awarded this spring.

Debra Roberts and Ryan Reilly have been selected as two of the country’s most outstanding campus leaders by Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.

Roberts is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Daugherty and a student at Lewis-Clark State College. Reilly is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael J. Reilly and a student at the University of Portland.

They will be listed in the 1995 edition of Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
