Man Pleads Guilty To Raping Girl

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Post Falls 21-year-old pleaded guilty Wednesday to raping a 16-year-old girl last Fourth of July.

Shane Jeffry McCloskey is facing up to a life term in prison.

McCloskey was originally charged with three counts of raping a 16-year-old girl. The girl told police she consented the first time. She also told them she was pregnant with McCloskey’s child.

McCloskey was convicted in 1993 of raping a 14-year-old runaway girl. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, but was soon released and given five years probation.

On Oct. 11, his probation was revoked for several violations unrelated to the rape. He was sentenced to serve at least 13 months, and up to 10 years. After the court hearing Wednesday, he was taken back to the Kootenai County Jail.

McCloskey will be sentenced for the most recent rape on July 5, a year and a day after the crime.
