Jet Hits Turbulence; Passengers Injured

Compiled From Wire Services

Twenty-three passengers and one flight attendant were slightly injured Sunday when a Continental Airlines jetliner hit turbulence.

The Airbus A300, carrying 257 passengers from Newark, N.J., landed safely at 1:30 p.m. at Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in the northern city of Carolina.

Flight 267 hit turbulence at 29,000 feet about one hour before arriving in Puerto Rico, said Christy Williams, an official with the Federal Aviation Administration in Atlanta.

Several passengers who weren’t wearing seat belts hit their heads on the plane’s bulkheads.
