Theft Of Pizza Nets A 25-To-Life Term

By Compiled From Wire Services

A man who stole a slice of pizza from some children last summer was sentenced Thursday to 25 years to life in prison under the state’s “three-strikes” law.

Jerry Dewayne Williams, 27, of Los Angeles was convicted of felony petty theft in January for taking the pepperoni pizza July 30 from a group of children, ages 7 to 14, on the Redondo Beach pier.

Williams had prior convictions for robbery, attempted robbery, drug possession and unauthorized use of a vehicle, so prosecutors sought to have him sentenced under California’s three-strikes law.
