Twiss Repeats In City Women’s Bowling

Julie Twiss’ reign continues in the Spokane Women’s Bowling Association. She compiled a 1,945 to capture the A all-events scratch title in the women’s city tournament for a second straight year.

She also won the A scratch singles title with a 687 and was on the championship A scratch and handicap teams.

Four Rights and A Wrong won the scratch title with a 2,926 and the handicap with a 3,247. Crown Carriage Works was second at 3,241.

Lori Sundh, rolling a 650 to go with 99 pins of handicap, beat Twiss 749-732 to win the A handicap singles. The A handicap all-events was won by Penny Kelly with a 2,109.

Kathy Daul and Sandy Hanson combined for a 1,216 to win A scratch doubles, with Pat Roestel and Penny Clem besting Ruth and Tracy Heath 1,361 to 1,358 in A handicap doubles.

B division winners: All-events - (scratch) Sherry Callihan, 1,668; (handicap) Sandy Frandsen, 2,129. Singles - (scratch) Pearl Burchett, 608; (handicap) Burchett, 779. Doubles - (scratch) Kelly Cheers-Peggy Kovacs, 1,148; (handicap) Susan Harding-Sandy Frandsen, 1,467. Team - (scratch) Lilac Lanes II, 2,641; (handicap) Lilac Lanes II, 3,340. Grand Duchess: Burchett, 608.

WSU suspensions

The name of a former Washington State baseball player, who has been helping in the program, and a current baseball player have been added to the list of those who have been disciplined for their part in an on-campus altercation last weekend.

WSU athletic director Rick Dickson said Rocky Murray, a senior from North Bend, Ore., who has pitched in three games this spring, and Don Barowsky, from Eagle, Idaho, who completed his eligibility last spring and has been helping head coach Steve Farrington, have been given suspensions.

Murray has been suspended for the first two games at this weekend’s Collegiate Baseball Classic in the Seattle Kingdome. He had been scheduled to start today against Nevada.

Wednesday, four members of the WSU football team were suspended indefinitely for their part in a fight at a fraternity house.

Volleyball

Lewis and Clark High School volleyball player Erika Migliore has signed a letter of intent to play at Cornell and has been accepted into the university’s premed program.

Golf

Downriver Golf Course announced that, if the current weather continues, it will open this weekend.
