Blanchet Annexes Title By Defeating Old Rival

Blanchet beat Franklin’s girls once, twice, three times and, finally, a fourth time.

The Braves made it 4-0 against the Quakers Saturday night by winning the state high school championship with a 54-42 victory in the Tacoma Dome.

Blanchet previously defeated Franklin in the Metro League and Sea-King District title games.

Freshman Nadia Morgan had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Monique Zampera had 10 points and 13 rebounds for Blanchet (28-1).

The Braves led 30-19 at halftime, holding Franklin (21-6) to 17.6 percent shooting from the field.

Blanchet’s lead in the second half was never less than eight points. The Braves led 39-31 with 7:28 to play.
