Nic Hurlers Do Their Job In Twin Win

The pitching problems North Idaho College coach Jack Bloxom worried about weren’t a problem Saturday when the Cardinals swept Pierce Community College 8-3 and 8-1 in non-conference baseball In Coeur d’Alene.

Steve Shorzman struck out five through four innings of the opening game. The Cardinals won the nightcap thanks in part to Chris McGregor’s two-run double in the fifth inning and Jeremy Mort’s three-run triple in the sixth.

CFL draft

Eastern Washington University defensive tackle Troy Alexander, an Edmonton native, was selected fourth overall by Saskatchewan in the Canadian Football League draft.

The 6-foot-2, 240-pounder, known for his strength and quick feet, was named to the 1994 AllBig Sky Conference second team.

Hamilton started the sevenround, 55-player draft by selecting Western Michigan offensive tackle Tom Nutten. Boise State linebacker Stefan Reid was the second pick, drafted by Ottawa.
