Teenager Shot In Arm By Youths Who Wanted Jacket

From Staff Reports

A Spokane teenager was shot in the arm early Saturday after two youths demanded his coat.

Chris Silva, 19, was walking with a woman near College and Nettleton when the shooting occurred at about 1 a.m., according to a Spokane police report.

The pair was approached by two men, one of whom demanded Silva’s jacket. When he hesitated, the assailant drew a handgun.

Silva handed over the coat and, as several other men approached, turned and ran. He was shot in the upper right arm, police said.

Several people identified a suspect in the shooting, but could not pick his photograph out in a lineup. Police questioned the suspect, but released him for lack of evidence.

Silva was treated at Deaconess Medical Center and released.
