Police Trying To Clarify Assault, Robbery Report

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 23-year-old Coeur d’Alene man reported being robbed at gunpoint by several males.

Jason Leslie Gomez told police he was struck in the face with a pistol butt and robbed at a home in Coeur d’Alene on March 21.

The alleged assault and robbery apparently stem from a debt, according to police reports. Police are now trying to locate two suspects and Gomez, said Capt. Carl Bergh.

“We need to clarify some facts to be sure of what happened,” said Bergh.

Gomez told police he was visiting an acquaintance’s home at the intersection of 12th Street and Coeur d’Alene Avenue when the suspect came to the doorway with a gun. Gomez said four other males emerged from the bushes in the yard, all brandishing pistols. Two reportedly wore surgical masks.

The suspect allegedly stripped a fanny pack from Gomez’s waist and removed $7, a Lotto ticket and seven grams of marijuana.

The suspect reportedly ordered Gomez to repay the debt by 6 p.m. Gomez left, went into hiding and called the Coeur d’Alene police.
