Car Crashes I-5 Gates, Kills 2

Two people were killed and two others injured when a car collided with a pickup truck on Interstate 5 on the city’s north side, authorities said.

The car was traveling the wrong way in the I-5 express lanes and had crashed through a half-dozen flashing warning gates when the crash occurred Sunday evening.

One of the dead was identified as Judith Hunter, 53, of Lynnwood, a passenger in the pickup driven by Russell Hunter, 55, also of Lynnwood. Hunter was listed in satisfactory condition Monday in Harborview Medical Center.

The King County Medical Examiner’s office identified the second person killed as Marjorie Schmidt of Lynnwood. She was also a passenger in the pickup. Her age was not immediately available.

Susan Holan, 38, of Woodinville, was the driver of the car. She was listed in serious condition at Harborview.
