Liske passed over

The University of Virginia athletic director’s job has been offered to Terry Holland, according to sources in Charlottsville.

Idaho A.D. Pete Liske is one of four finalists for the position. Liske interviewed with Virginia president John Casteen nine days ago in Los Angeles.

Holland, the former Virginia men’s basketball coach who now serves as A.D. at Davidson, hasn’t yet accepted the offer, but he’s expected to visit Charlottsville on Friday.

Since early in the search, Liske was considered one of the frontrunners.

NIC forward to Portland

North Idaho College’s Luke Palumbis has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Portland.

Palumbis, an agile, 6-foot-9 freshman center, was an automatic qualifier out of high school, so he doesn’t need a two-year degree to transfer.
