Man Critically Injured In Accident

From Staff And Wire Reports

An 82-year-old man was critically injured Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision on North Monroe, police said.

Cyril Curtiss of Spokane was in critical condition late Thursday at Holy Family Hospital, a nursing supervisor said. He suffered a ruptured spleen, Spokane police said.

His wife, Mabel Curtiss, 76, was treated at Holy Family and released.

The driver of the other car, Victoria Shore, 36, of Spokane, also was treated and released from the hospital.

Cyril Curtiss was heading west on Rowan in a 1990 Dodge Dynasty at 3:21 p.m. when he stopped at Monroe for a stop sign, police said.

He then pulled out in front of Shore’s van, which was northbound on Monroe, police said.
