Atlanta’s 3s Bury Orlando

Associated Press

NBA

Steve Smith hit seven consecutive 3-point baskets before missing his last attempt and finished with 27 points to lead the Atlanta Hawks to a 124-91 rout of the Orlando Magic on Saturday night in Atlanta.

The Hawks tied their team record of 14 3-pointers set last March against New York, and it was the most ever yielded by the Magic, who allowed 10 3-pointers to Cleveland in January 1994.

Atlanta took control of this one in the third quarter, outscoring the Magic 44-16 and putting together a 15-0 burst in the process, a spurt in which Smith had a pair of 3-pointers.

Reserve Brian Shaw had 19 points to lead the Magic, playing without the injured Shaquille O’Neal, who is out until late December with a broken thumb.
