Colorado Beats Calgary On The Road

Associated Press

NHL

Colorado goaltender Stephane Fiset turned aside 44 shots as the Colorado Avalanche beat the Flames in Calgary 5-3 Friday night.

Twenty-one of Fiset’s stops came in a busy second period when Colorado was dominated territorially, yet scored the only two goals and took a 4-1 lead.

Of the more notable stops were alert saves off consecutive short-handed opportunities by German Titov and Theoren Fleury. Then Fiset robbed Michael Nylander from 20 feet out at the buzzer.
