A Gamble Works For Playfair Win

A Gamble, sprint champion for the 1992 horse racing season at Playfair Race Course, captured some of his glory of yesteryear Saturday when he sprinted to victory in the 20th running of the Rocking Chair Handicap.

A two-time winner of the Turbulator Handicap and one of the track’s noted front-runners in this decade, A Gamble inherited the lead from Bolsure, from the fading favorite, at the far turn before going on to a 4-1/2-length triumph. A Gamble was one of three winners on the card for Canadian jockey Perry Winters.

Challenging Knight rallied to finish second with Snowy Mountain Sam, another former stakes horse, third.

Owned the Horton Farms of Playfair president Stan Horton, A Gamble earned his 18th victory in 54 lifetime starts.

Earlier in the day, Frost Gothe Peach tuned up for the Inland Empire Prep by becoming the first horse to win six races this season.
