Robbers Back Off At Cash Machine

By From Staff And Wire Reports

Two men tried to rob a man near a downtown cash machine Tuesday afternoon but apparently lost their nerve, Spokane police said.

The victim, 33, told police he drove to the machine at Riverside and Stevens about 3 p.m. and was approached by the men on either side of his car.

One held a revolver, which was partly covered by a dirty towel. The man with the gun said something to the other suspect and both left. The victim tried to follow them heading west on Riverside but lost track, police said.

The man with the gun was described as white, about 25, 5 feet 7 inches tall and thin, with brown hair and green eyes. He wore a denim coat.

The other man was about 40, 6 feet tall and thin, with brown hair.

Police have no suspects.
