World Series Helps Bat Nbc Into Ratings Victory
NBC’s stellar Thursday night lineup and solid World Series viewership gave the network its third weekly ratings win in a row, according to figures released Tuesday.
Six of the top 10 shows for Oct. 16-22 were on NBC, including the second game of the Atlanta BravesCleveland Indians contest, rated No. 3. Overall, the network earned a 13.3 average rating and 22 share.
ABC was second with a 12.0 rating and 20 share, followed by CBS’ 9.5 rating, 16 share, according to Nielsen Media Research. Fox Broadcasting Co., which programs 15 of the 22 prime-time hours, posted a 7.0 rating, 11 share.
“ER” retained its seasonlong hold on the No. 1 spot for NBC. More good news for the network: The audience for the season debut of “Homicide: Life on the Street” was up 19 percent over last year’s opener.
