Lakeland Defeats Moscow, Advances To A-2 Playoffs

Idaho Lakeland outgutted Moscow 21-14 on a frigid Friday night in Rathdrum, advancing to the State A-2 high school football playoffs.

The victory improved Lakeland to 4-1 in the Intermountain League and 5-4 overall, good for second place over Moscow’s 3-2 mark. The Hawks travel to Weiser (outside of Boise) next Saturday in the A-2 playoffs.

Senior linebacker Cameron Napora blocked a punt with 9 minutes remaining that set up Lakeland, trailing 14-13, at the Bears’ 24-yard line.

Lakeland faced fourth-and-1 at the 15, but sophomore Kurt Reese hit freshman Harrison Bertsch in the right flat for 8 yards. Two plays later, senior Randy Foote stormed in from the 5 and senior Casey Pluid hauled in a two-point conversion pass.

St. Maries 21, Bonners Ferry 7

St. Maries (5-0 IML, 9-0) beat the Badgers (0-5, 2-7) and will play host to Snake River Valley Conference runner-up Emmett in the A-2 playoffs.

Falls Christian 36, Kootenai 12

Falls Christian (5-4) hosted Kootenai (0-9) in a North Star League game and got two rushing touchdowns from Ben Berg.
