Associated Press

Tropical Storm Nina sent floods and mudflows through several northern Philippine towns this morning, forcing thousands of residents to flee.

The storm had almost reached Aurora province on the eastern coast of Luzon Island, with winds gusting up to 50 mph.

Nina was heading westward on a path near Mount Pinatubo, where at least 35 villages were either buried by mudflows or indundated by heavy flooding.
