Dempsey Captures Firsts At Forensics Tournament

Jessica Dempsey, a Boise State University freshman from Coeur d’Alene, recently won two firstplace awards at the Pi Kappa Delta Great West Regional Collegiate Forensics Tournament in Coeur d’Alene.

Dempsey teamed with her partner, Patricia Moore, a Boise sophomore, to win first place in Parliamentary debate. She later paired with freshman Susie Phelps, Wyoming, to take the win in duo interpretation.

The following local University of Idaho students engaged in student teaching during the spring semester are listed as follows with their hometowns and the schools they are teaching in: Bonners Ferry Travis Coffey, history education major and son of Susanne Coffey, teaching at Moscow Junior High School. Careywood Alan Kitchel, secondary education major and son of Allison Kitchel, teaching at Clarkston High School. Cocolalla Barbara Hunt, elementary education major and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Eich, teaching at Southside Elementary School in Sandpoint. Coeur d’Alene Vickie Borley, teaching at Hayden Lake Elementary School; Jennifer Brumley, a communication major and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Brumley, teaching at Lake City High School; Laura King Culp, an elementary education major, teaching at Garwood Elementary School and the Coeur d’Alene Christian School; Lisa Dobson, teaching at Post Falls Junior High School and Ponderosa Elementary School; Patsy Hargrave, an elementary education major, teaching at Hayden Meadows Elementary School; Tina Judd Hunter, an elementary education major and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Judd, teaching at Dalton Gardens Elementary School; Jennifer Rude, an elementary education major, teaching at Bryan Elementary School and Coeur d’Alene Christian School. Clark Fork Greg Scott, a physical science education major and son of Mr. and Mrs. John Scott, teaching at Plummer High School; Deary Gary McCalmant, elementary education major, teaching at Bovill Elementary School. Genesee Victoria Boyd, an art education major, teaching at Kendrick High School; Cindy Johnson, an elementary education major and daughter of Charlotte Johnson, teaching at Genesee Elementary School.
