Six Pros Share 1st Place In Pro-Am At Fairways Stephanie Davis, Five Men Match 4-Under Scores Of 68

The wide open spaces of the par-72 Fairways Golf Course kept the field tight during Monday’s stop of the Athletic Round Table Pro-Am.

Six local pros, including Stephanie Davis of Hayden Lake, fired 4-under 68s to tie for first place.

The others were Randy Buckenberger (Twin Lakes Village), Chris Mitchell (Sun Dance), Mark Gardner (Creek at Qualchan), Mark Rohde (Rohde’s Golf Studio) and Dan Porter (Downriver).

Buckenberger and Rohde shot 34s on the front and back nine, while Gardner and Porter bettered their front-nine scores of 35 with 33s on the back nine. Mitchell made the greatest comeback, shooting a 31 on the back nine after a dismal 37 on the front side.

Davis went 36-32 to capture the women’s pro divsion by 14 strokes.

Five players, including amateurs Chad Gaffney and Kent Brown, were two shots back tied for sixth.

Seven players were at 71 and four finished at 72.

Gaffney, of Esmeralda, and Brown, Colville Elks, tied for low gross honors for the amateurs.

In the seniors pro division, Bill Sproule of Okanagan Valley finished with a 72, three strokes better than Ken Johnston, Sun Dance, to lead that division.

Denny Johnston, Sun Dance, and Larry Becker, Wandermere, tied for third with 78s.

Davis also led Hayden Lake to the team title with a 115, one stroke ahead of The Creek at Qualchan.

Mike Ryan from the University of Idaho and Les Mueller from MeadowWood tied for first low net in the 0-8 amateur division with 6-under 66s.

In the 9-13 amateur division, Al Underwood and Ken Degs, both of Twin Lakes, tied for low net by recording 64s.

Tom Shanholtzer of Stoneridge took the low net amateur 14-30 division with a 9-under 63. Brian Finnerty, Creek at Qualchan, was second, one stroke back.
