Teens Arrested On Gun Charges After Stolen Rifles Found In Home

From Staff Reports

Three teenagers were arrested on gun charges Friday night after police found four stolen rifles at the South Hill home of one of the boys.

Police believe the guns might be part of a bigger cache and are continuing the investigation, said police spokesman Dick Cottam. He did not say where the guns were stolen from.

The boys, ages 15 and 16, were booked into Spokane County Juvenile Detention for possession of stolen firearms.

The rifles were found at a home in the 3300 block of East 31st. A woman who lives near the home reported seeing an armed boy leave about 8 p.m. Police found the 16-year-old nearby. He had drug paraphernalia, but was not armed, Cottam said.

The boy reportedly told police he was taking care of several rifles for a friend. Police said they took the boy back to his home and found the guns.

While police were there, the boy who left the rifles called and said he was on his way to pick them up. Police waited and arrested the two 15-year-olds when they arrived, Cottam said.

The 16-year-old also was booked for possession of drug paraphernalia.
