Jarrett Wins Goodwrench 400

Compiled From Wire Services

More celebration for Dale Jarrett. More frustration for Mark Martin.

Jarrett, enjoying the best season of his career, won the GM Goodwrench 400 in Brooklyn, Mich., his fourth victory of the year.

Martin, winless in Winston Cup racing this season, had led for 87 laps before Jarrett passed with seven laps remaining. The winning margin was .168 seconds.

Spokane’s Chad Little finished 36th.

A blown engine two turns from the end robbed Al Unser Jr. of his first win in nearly a year and handed longtime rival Michael Andretti the victory in the Texaco-Havoline 200 at Elkhart Lake, Wis.

Canadian Bruno Bianchi won his first race of the Formula Ford 2000 season at the New Hampshire International Speedway in Loudon, N.H.

Jerry Marquis, the 1991 NASCAR Northeast region champion, used a lapped car to pass Babe Branscombe, another short track veteran, and went on to win the Star 150 in the NASCAR Busch North Series at Epping, N.H.
