Serb, Muslim Named Joint Prime Ministers

Compiled From Wire Services

Bosnia’s three-man presidency appointed a Serb and a Muslim on Thursday as joint prime ministers of the divided country.

Former Prime Minister Haris Silajdzic will represent the Muslim-Croat federation and Boro Bosic, former minister of industry in the Serb half of Bosnia, the Serbs. They will share the post in a weekly rotation.

Bosnia’s three presidents - a Muslim, a Serb and a Croat - agreed last month on the makeup of the new central government.

Silajdzic and Bosic have a week to name the other members of their joint Cabinet. They will be assisted by Carl Bildt, the top international civilian coordinator of Bosnia’s peace.
