Woman Dies From Train Collision Injuries

Associated Press

A Livingston woman died early Tuesday of injuries she suffered when her car was struck by a train at a crossing just east of Livingston Monday night.

Sharon L. Fitzsimons, 41, was crossing the Montana Rail Link tracks on a private road east of town about 6:30 p.m. Monday when she was struck by the train.

The Montana Highway Patrol said she apparently did not see the empty coal train approaching. It struck the car while traveling 35 to 40 mph and pushed the vehicle 685 feet before it could stop.

Park County Coroner Al Jenkins said Fitzsimons suffered massive head injuries in the collision.
