Wilander Faces Allegations

Compiled From Wire Services

The International Tennis Federation said it would vigorously defend itself against court action by Mats Wilander and Karl Novacek, who accused the organization of smearing them with false allegations of drug abuse.

Lawyers for the two players have served a writ on the ITF, in which they argue that Wilander and Novacek were not given a fair chance to defend themselves against allegations they tested positive for cocaine at last year’s French Open. Both players deny the allegations.
