Panel Backs Worker’s Comp

Legislation extending mandatory workers compensation insurance coverage to farm laborers cleared a Senate committee on Tuesday, setting the stage for full Senate action by week’s end.

The Commerce and Human Resources Committee voted 8-1 in favor of the proposal put together by Republican Gov. Phil Batt to carry out what he has made a major priority for the 1996 session.

Idaho is currently among 14 states without mandatory worke’s compensation coverage for farm laborers.
