Top Seeds Each Advance With Wins

Southeast B Tournament

There were few suprises in the first round of the Southeast B Tournament on Monday.

The Blue Mountain League’s top seed, Pomeroy, and Whitman County League’s No. 1 seed, LaCrosse-Washtucna, both advanced to today’s second round with easy victories over lesser-ranked opponents.

Second seeds Waitsburg and Garfield-Palouse also advanced, setting the stage for some eagerly anticipated matchups.

Touchet, Saint John-Endicott, Rosalia and DeSales all face elimination in a pair of loser out games.

The SEB tournament will continue at Washington State University’s Friel Court through Saturday, with the top two seeds advancing to the State B Tournament in Spokane next week.

LaCrosse-Wash. 64, Touchet 50

Casey Rouleau and Troy Nealey combined for 18 of the Tigercats’ 25 points in the fourth quarter to propel LaCrosse-Washtucna past the Indians in the first round of the SEB Tournament at Pullman.

Touchet trailed 39-36 going into the fourth period, but Nealey rebounded from a scoreless third period to tally eight points.

Mike Adams had 23 points for Touchet.

Eric Wyatt scored six of his team-high 14 points in the third quarter to lift the Cardinals over the Eagles.

St. John-Endicott pulled to within six points at the end of the third quarter 44-38 but Waitsburg went on a 15-8 run to close out the game.

Josh Largent came off the bench to hit two 3-pointers for the Cardinals in the first period.

Nick Cox scored eight points in a 25-point fourth quarter as the Pirates cruised to a win over the Spartans.

Adam McCabe hit two 3-pointers in the first quarter to help Pomeroy get out to a 10-8 lead.

The Pirates overcame an 11-25 shooting performance at the line. Rosalia was 7-11.

The Vikings’ overcame Brian Lindgren’s 20 points with a balanced scoring attack.

Logan Coles scored seven of his nine points in the first quarter as Garfield-Palouse opened up a 22-9 lead.

B.J. Hill’s 12 points led three Vikings in double-figures.

Garfield-Palouse outscored DeSales 28-9 in the second half.
