War Crimes Court Indicts Muslims, Too

Associated Press

The U.N. war crimes tribunal for former Yugoslavia is looking beyond Bosnia’s Serbs and soon will indict the first Muslim suspects, its president said Wednesday.

Antonio Cassese told reporters that the indictments against Muslim suspects would be handed down “in a few weeks.” He did not say how many suspects would be charged or provide details about the atrocities.

Investigators working from 17 grainy photographs of alleged war crimes suspects and victims have been hampered by the poor quality of the photos, he said.

The U.N. court, based in The Hague, Netherlands, has indicted 52 people - 45 Serbs and seven Croats. The Serbs include Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic.
