Area Roundup: Interest In Triple-A Expansion Dwindles
Spokane Indians general manager Andy Billig said Thursday that just three cities - Fresno, Calif., Bowie, Md., and San Juan, Puerto Rico - are still interested in the two Triple-A expansion baseball franchises set to begin play in 1998.
The $7.5 million price tag has apparently scared off many cities.
Spokane made the short list for Triple-A expansion but never formally applied after a season-ticket drive met with a lukewarm response.
