Local Dancers Have Shot At Making Olympics
The Academy of Dance is looking for area dancers experienced in jazz and ballet to perform at the Coca Cola Olympic City at the Olympic Games in Atlanta this summer.
Dancers must be at least 13 and will be expected to pay their own transportation and lodging. Rehearsals will be throughout July.
The dance group will be at the Olympics either July 28-31 or July 31-Aug.4.

Symphony manager sought
The Washington Idaho Symphony, based in Moscow, is accepting applications for the position of general manager.
The 35-hour-per-week position carries an annual salary of $17,000 with health benefits, sick leave and vacation.

Lettering workshop
Spokane artist Claryn Reid will lead a uncial lettering workshop at Spokane Art School, 920 N. Howard, on two Saturdays, March 2 and 9.
Uncial (pronounced un-shal) was originally used primarily for Christian writings between the third and eighth centuries. The style is based on rounded forms and consists of 26 majescule letters, plus numbers and punctuation.
Today uncial is primarily used for religious holiday writings.
The workshops will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days. The workshop costs $40. For more information, or to register, call 328-0900.
Photography exhibit The photo collages of John R. Davis Jr. will be on exhibit at Eastern Washington University’s Gallery of Photography during March.
The photo collage “allows me to describe greater reality … which includes not only visible images, but essence as well,” Davis said.

Learn to sculpt
The Adam East Museum and Art Center in Moses Lake is offering a day-long sculpting class for adults and kids, ages 6 and older, on Saturday, March 9.
Students will learn how to work with clay and how to sculpt the human form.

Dance festival
The U.S. Classique ‘96 Swing and Latin Dance Camp and Festival will be March 8, 9 and 10 at the Red Lion Hotel in Pasco.
Included will be workshops and competitions, two dances and a “Black and White” gala dinner dance.
